About Yakima Nation Farms
Yakama Nation Farms is a tribally owned agricultural enterprise rooted in the heart of the Yakama Reservation in south-central Washington. With over a century of farming experience, the farm emphasizes sustainable practices and high-quality produce, ensuring fresh food and local access for the community.
The farm's history began in 1907 with Shukishi Inaba, a Japanese immigrant who established successful crops near Wapato, Washington. Over three generations, the Inaba family cultivated the land, building strong relationships with Yakama families. In January 2022, the Yakama Nation acquired the farm, continuing its legacy and focusing on tribal food sovereignty, reconnecting intertribal trade routes, and expanding local food distribution partnerships.
