Banana Wax Pepper skin is waxy, smooth, and ripens from yellow to orange or red when fully mature. Underneath the surface, the flesh is thick and crisp, encasing a central cavity filled with many small, round cream-colored seeds. These peppers are mild with little heat and have a tangy, slightly sweet flavor that is enhanced maturity.
They are often confused with the Hot Hungarian Wax Peppers which range from 5,000 to 15,000 SHU on the Scoville scale. However the Banana Wax Pepper is a much milder pepper that ranges from 0-500 SHU on the Scoville scale.
